Shang Guo, also known as hook swords, allow a competent user to control the battlefield, tripping, disarming, and dragging their opponents across the cold, hard ground. Mastery of these weapons allows their wield to manipulate their prey as a puppeteer, swinging, slinging, and slaying their enemies with ease and precision.
Weapon Proficiencies
The shang guo master is proficient with the shang guo, but not with tower shields. Shang guo he wields have the trip and disarm weapon properties regardless of whether the weapon is wielded in one or two hands.
This modifies weapon and armor proficiencies
Rolling Strikes (Ex)
When the shang guo master makes a successful melee attack with each of two separate Shang Guo in a single round, he may attempt a drag, reposition, disarm, or trip combat maneuver with his weapon against his target as a swift action. This combat maneuver does not provoke attacks of opportunity.
This replaces the bonus feat gained at 1st level
Master’s Cunning
At 2nd level, if the shang guo master’s Intelligence score is less than 13, it counts as 13 for the purpose of meeting the prerequisites of combat feats.
This replaces bravery
Skilled Combatant
The shang guo master must choose Improved Drag, Improved Reposition, Improved Disarm, or Improved Trip as his second level bonus feat. He need not meet the prerequisites for this feat.
This modifies bonus feat gained at 2nd level
Shang Guo Training (Ex)
At 5th level a shang guo master gains a +1 bonus on attack and damage rolls with shang guo. The bonus increases by +1 for every four levels beyond 5th.
This ability replaces weapon training 1.
Rolling Disorientation (Ex)
Beginning at 9th level, when the shang guo master succeeds on the combat maneuver provided by his Rolling Strikes class feature, his target is denied their Dexterity bonus to their AC until the beginning of their next turn.
This replaces weapon training 2
Ringing Strikes (Ex)
Beginning at 13th level, when the shang guo master succeeds on the combat maneuver provided by his Rolling Strikes class feature, his target is deafened until the beginning of their next turn. A Will saving throw negates this effect (DC = 10 + the shang guo master’s Strength modifier + 1/2 his level).
This replaces weapon training 3
Disorienting Maneuver (Ex)
Beginning at 17th level, when the shang guo master succeeds on the combat maneuver provided by his Rolling Strikes class feature, his target is dazed for 1 round. A Will saving throw negates this effect (DC = 10 + the shang guo master’s Strength modifier + 1/2 his level).
This replaces the weapon training 4
Shang Guo Mastery (Ex)
At 20th level, the shang guo may move up to his speed and make a full attack with his shang guo as a full round action. Additionally, the shang guo master takes no penalties from wielding two weapons when he makes a full attack with only shang guo.
This replaces weapon mastery
