While many knights and soldiers dread the long, dull stretches of time spent guarding their kingdom’s borders, the Border Knight relishes this task. Skilled in tracking and monitoring large expanses, the border knight is a vital part of any smoothly run kingdom. In combat, the border knight is able to use the terrain to his advantage, finding geographical insights he and his allies can manipulate.

Additionally, he gains an insight bonus equal to 1/2 his level when making Knowledge (geography) skill checks about an area he has been in for at least one week.
Geographical Insight (Ex)
The border knight learns to use the geography of his patrol route to enhance the combat effectiveness of himself and his allies. Each morning, he may spend up to 1 hour patrolling an area, then gains a number of uses of geographical insight equal the number of times he has patrolled the same area (maximum twice his level).
The border knight may spend a geographical insight as a standard action to increase the bonuses gained on attack rolls or to AC due to battlefield position (such as flanking, higher ground, or cover) by +1 for 1 minute. The bonus and duration of this ability increase by +1 for every 5 levels beyond the 1st (maximum 5 minutes and +5 at 20th level).
