It is often said that a master of martial combat knows her blade better than she knows herself. A favored weapon brawler, exemplifies this saying. Armed with a magic blade, the favored weapon brawler works in concert with her weapon to achieve near impossible feats of strength and tactical understanding.
Bonded Blade
At 2nd level, the favored weapon brawler gains a bonded item, using her brawler level in place of her wizard level. This item must be a weapon from the close weapon fighter weapon group.
This replaces the favored weapon brawler’s 2nd level bonus feat
Favored Flurry
A favored weapon brawler may make a brawler’s flurry with her bonded blade, but not with unarmed strikes or any other weapon.
This modifies brawler’s flurry
Arcane Flexibility (Su)
At 3rd level, as a swift action, the favored weapon brawler can expend 1 use of martial flexibility to grant her bonded blade +1 enhancement bonus for 1 minute. At 7th level and every 4 levels thereafter, she grants her black blade another +1 enhancement bonus, to a maximum of +5 at 17th level. These bonuses can be added to the weapon, stacking with existing weapon enhancement to a maximum of +5. Multiple uses of this ability do not stack with themselves.
At 7th level, these bonuses can be used to add any of the following weapon properties: dancing, flaming, flaming burst, frost, icy burst, keen, shock, shocking burst, speed, brilliant energy, impact, or vorpal.
Adding these properties consumes an amount of bonus equal to the property’s base price modifier. These properties are added to any the weapon already has, but duplicates do not stack. These bonuses and properties are decided when the use of martial flexibility is spent and cannot be changed until the next time the brawler uses this ability. These bonuses do not function if the weapon is wielded by anyone other than the brawler. The brawler may only use this ability while wearing light or no armor.
This ability replaces maneuver training
Brawler’s Blade (Su)
At 5th level, a brawler’s bonded blade reforges itself as a living steel weapon. At 9th level, her blade becomes cold and emits a mystic resonance. It is treated as cold iron and silver for the purpose of overcoming damage reduction. At 12th level, she chooses one alignment component: chaotic, evil, good, or lawful; her bonded blade also count as this alignment for the purpose of overcoming damage reduction. (This alignment component cannot be the opposite of the brawler’s actual alignment, such as a good brawler choosing to penetrate DR/evil.) At 17th level, her blade reforged itself again, this time into an adamantine weapon. It still regains hit points as though it were made of living steel.
This replaces brawler’s strike
Black Blade Mastery (Ex)
At 5th level, when the favored weapon brawler gains the close weapon mastery ability, it applies only to her bonded blade.
This replaces close weapon mastery
