The Jutte Master is wise in the ways of the world. She listens for the breath of the wind on her neck, the slice of the blade through the air. With her great focus, she is able to deflect attacks made against her with grace and poise.
Weapon Proficiency
A jutte master gains proficiency with the jutte, but not with bucklers.
This replaces the swashbuckler’s normal weapon proficiencies.
Focus of the Master
The jutte master’s combat prowess comes from her awareness and focus, rather than daring or style. She uses her Wisdom modifier in place of her Charisma for all class features.
Deeds
The jutte master gains the following deed.
Blade Turning (Ex): At 1st level, when an opponent attempts a melee attack against the jutte master, she may spend an attack of opportunity to attempt to deflect the blow. The jutte master’s attacker takes a penalty on their attack roll equal to their Base Attack Bonus. The jutte master can only perform this deed while wielding a jutte. She must announce that she is using this deed after the attack is declared, but before the results are revealed. The jutte master must have at least one point of panache remaining to perform this deed.
This replaces opportune parry and riposte
Disconcerting Silence (Su): At 3rd level, when an attack affected by the jutte master’s blade turning deed misses, she may spend a point of panache to deny her attacker their Dexterity bonus to AC until the beginning of her next turn. If the jutte master speaks while this ability is active, it ends and the enemy may make an attack of opportunity against her. This does not require an action.
This replaces menacing swordplay
Jutte Fighting
The jutte master can use her blade as dexterously as her own hand. She counts a hand holding a jutte as a free hand. Additionally, she counts a jutte as a light piercing weapon for the purposes of the all feats and class features that refer to such a weapon.
This replaces derring-do
Patient Combatant (Ex)
Beginning at 2nd level, the jutte master may spend a move action in order ready herself against an attack. If she does so, she may make an additional attack of opportunity before her next turn. The jutte master gains an additional attack of opportunity at 6th level and every 4 levels thereafter (maximum 5 additional attacks of opportunity at 18th level).
This replaces charmed life
Shielding Blade (Ex)
At 7th level, when the jutte master makes an attack of opportunity, she may make a disarm combat maneuver with a jutte she is wielding as an immediate action. At 15th level, she may do so as a free action, even if it is not her turn.
