Gahennans come from the madness infested shores of the Alcoria Sanitarium. This island acts as a portal to the Plane of the Lost, home of the Great Old Ones. The slow madness twisted what were ones humanoids into beings composed of flowing, black sand. The Gahennans’ close contact with Cthulhu, Hastur, Xhamen-Dor, and the other Great Old Ones rendered them strange and odd at best, and dangerously insane at worst. The madness of most gahennans often manifests as strange humor, odd behaviors, and unnerving habits.
Appearance: Gahennans appear as tall, gaunt humanoids, with bodies made entirely of flowing black sand.
Location: Gahennans live in the Alcoria Sanitarium, the island prison housing the Great Old Ones. Those who cross the black sand beaches of the Sanitarium, known as the Dark Tapestry, find themselves driven from Alcoria’s shores. Those Gahennans who leave the island often settle in Tzalandar or Kugona.
Names: Lakiggta, N'mmmeli, Nyiqlanche, Othatha, Sha’ga’ort, Telogtug, Thosh’rar, Ach'ngoth, Bogochu, Chara-Gog, Phlagali, Rhylinahk, Georbahrisca
Alignment and Religion: Gahennans are innately insane, their minds driven deep into madness by the Great Old Ones. Gahennans range in alignment but tend never to take lawful alignments. Most gahennans pledge themselves to the Great Old Ones. However, some who leave Alcoria take up other religions, often worshiping chaotic gods or gods of mystery; gahennan religious cults in Tzalandar and Kugona venerate Kyaal and Yatsuo as lost brothers of the Great Old Ones.
Relations: Gahennans often find they work well with the ji chi, as both races have a nonstandard grasp on the trappings of reality and polite society. Wageni loath gahennans, and will make raids on passing gahennans who come to close to their mountain homes.
Adventurers: Gahennans make excellent partners when setting out to investigate the horrifying and the occult, their familiarity with madness making them indispensable, though awkward, travelling companions. Many gahennans who train as adventurers use their connection to madness and the void to become psychic spellcasters specialized in mind-affecting effects, or void focused kineticists.

Darkvision: Gahennans can see perfectly in the dark up to 120 feet
Abberant Knowledge: Ganhennans gain a +2 racial bonus on Knowledge (dungeoneering) checks to identify the vulnerabilities and powers of aberrations and can make such checks untrained.
Project Madness (Sp): Gahennans can cast lesser confusion and paranoia as a spell-like ability each once per day, using their character level in place of their caster level. The DC of these abilities is 10 + 1/2 the gahennan’s level + their Charisma modifier.
Born Beyond the Tapestry: Gahennans are treated as 1 level higher when using powers of the Void domain or elemental school, utility wild talents of the Void element, domain powers of the cleric’s Madness domain, revelations of the oracle's Dark Tapestry mystery, and hexes and spirit abilities from the shaman's Madness spirit. This trait does not give Gahennans early access to level-based powers; it only affects powers they could already use without this trait.
Amongst the Insane: Gahennan’s personalities are shaped by the madness among which they are born, leaving them awkward in social interactions. They do not add their Charisma modifier on Diplomacy skill checks. However, they add their Charisma modifier as a racial bonus on saving throws against mind-affecting effects.
