Kyaal is a collector of curiosities, filling his home in the void beyond time and space with trinkets brought by planar portals and chronal rivers. He selected many things to add to his collection, warriors from armies both ancient and new, technological marvels, and wondrous arcane artifacts. When seen from far away, through the veil of space and time, these wonders appear as Almira’s 26 great constellations. Some believe that Kyaal is simply a legend, and that his worshippers gain power from their beliefs, instead of divine providence. True believers, however, know that Kyaal is a real and one of the most powerful deities to have ever walked the heavens and the earth.
Kyaal’s Greatest Treasure
One day, as he sat in the heavens, a chronal river meandering through the void pulled a mysterious curiosity into Kyaal’s realm. The curiosity was small child, a mewling babe who could be no more than a few weeks old. Kyaal took pity on the child, and brought him into his family, raising the child as his own. He named the child Yatsuo, meaning “Born Beyond Home” in Celestial.
As he grew, Yatsuo became a painter of exceptional skill, his talent fueled by his growing divinity. Fearing that a second deity would upset the delicate balance of his collection, Kyaal sent Yatsuo forth from his house and realm, and created all of reality.
Distraught, Yatsuo left. He went forth beyond the veils of his father’s realm, and created the heavens and the earth, the sea and the sky, the people of the world and the land upon which they could live. He created good, and he created evil, and when he was done, he returned to his father’s realm.
“Kyaal!” he roared into the void, “I am returned and will have words with you! I have created the heavens and the earth, the sea and the sky, the people of the world and the land upon which they can live. I created good and I created evil. I am here now, father, and I do not wish to wander anymore.”
And lo, Kyaal looked upon his son without words and moved to hold Yatsuo in his arms once more. “You are welcome here my son. Remain, until you see fit to leave. For you are the greatest treasure in my collection.”
