While all swashbucklers are adept damage dealers, adding scaling damage from their precise strike ability to their weapon damage rolls, some choose to focus their efforts. The Haughty Aristocrat deals impressive damage with her challenges, exacting vengeance against those peasants who would dare to lay a hand upon so impressive a ruler.
Challenge (Su)
At 1st level, the Haughty Aristocrat may challenge her opponent to a duel. As a swift action, the Haughty Aristocrat may expend a point of panache to choose one target within sight to challenge. The Haughty Aristocrat's melee attacks deal extra damage equal to the target of her challenge equal to her level. The Haughty Aristocrat can use this ability once per day at 1st level, plus one additional time per day at 6th level and every 3 levels thereafter.
Challenging a foe requires much of the Haughty Aristocrat’s concentration. She takes a –2 penalty to her Armor Class, except against attacks made by the target of her challenge. The challenge remains in effect until the target is dead or unconscious or until the combat ends.
This replaces derring-do
Deeds
The Haughty Aristocrat gains the following deeds, each of which replaces an existing deed.
The Gauntlet Thrown (Ex): Beginning at 1st level, when the Haughty Aristocrat is hit by a melee attack, she may spend a point of panache to challenge her attacker. Declaring a challenge this way does not count against the maximum number of challenges she may declare in a day, and requires no action.
This replaces opportune parry and riposte
Imperious Strike (Ex): Beginning at 3rd level, the Haughty Aristocrat may spend a point of panache to add an additional 1d6 to all of her attack rolls against the target of her challenge until the beginning of her next turn. If the result of the d6 roll is a natural 6, she rolls another 1d6 and adds it to the check. She can continue to do this as long as she rolls natural 6s, up to a number of times equal to her Dexterity modifier (minimum 1).
This replaces precise strike
