Members of The Path often find familiars to help them learn and advise them in matters of academia and education. The Path Gunman's familiar educates her in the ways of firearms, helping her to craft her first firearm and providing words of advice in combat.
Academic Discipline
The path gunman draws her power from a years of academic study and discipline. She uses her Intelligence modifier and score in place of her Wisdom modifier and score for all gunslinger class features.
Familiar (Ex)
At 1st level, the path gunman gains a familiar as a wizard of her level. The familiar gains Gunsmithing as a bonus feat, but does not gain the alertness, deliver touch spells or share spells abilities.
This replaces gunsmith
Deeds
A path gunman gains access to the following deeds at their listed levels:
Out of the Way (Ex): Beginning at 7th level, when the path gunman’s familiar becomes the target of an attack, the path gunman may intercept the strike as an immediate action. The path gunman’s familiar is moved into her square, often into a concealed pocket or beneath a coat, after which the gunman becomes the new target of the attack. If the path gunman is in range of the attack, it rolled against him as normal, otherwise the attack fails. The path gunman must elect to use this ability after the attack roll is made, but before results of the roll are announced. The gunslinger must have at least 1 point of grit and be able to see and hear her familiar to use this ability.
This replaces startling shot
Word of Advice (Ex)
At 4th level, as long as the path gunman is is sharing a square with her familiar and her familiar is conscious, she is considered to have at least 1 grit point for the purposes of her deeds, regardless of how many grit points she actually has.
This replaces the path gunman’s bonus feat gained at 4th level
